Our Efforts to Realize a Sustainable World
Recently, the word "SDGs" has been attracting attention, but Sunshine Juice not only incorporates the nutrition of fresh ingredients ordered from producers all over Japan, but also has various initiatives to create an earth-friendly environment since its founding. I'm here.
Using materials that are difficult to sell because of their shape or size
At Sunshine Juice, we actively collect materials that are difficult to sell on the market because of their shape and size. Organic farming and special cultivation tend to produce poorly shaped vegetables, and it is said that about 30% of them are B products. Just because it is a B product makes it difficult to sell it in the market, and it may end up being thrown away without being eaten. It's absurd that the more you stick to it, the more things you can't sell. At Sunshine Juice, we actively buy vegetables and B-products that are of good quality except for their shape, and make them into juice.
Effective use of juice pulp
Sunshine Juice makes effective use of the juice pulp that remains after being separated from the juice during the cold-pressed juice manufacturing process. One is to use it as a base for vegan soups and vegan curries. The seeds, skins, and roots that remain in the pulp also contain nutritional phytochemicals that can be extracted by heating. By using this as a dashi, vegan soups and vegan curries are nutritious and delicious. We are also making efforts to make soil by using it as a dye for apparel such as aprons and tote bags, and by fermenting it and composting it. We aim to compost the pulp of selected materials, grow vegetables with the compost, and use it again for juice. Pulp is also available free of charge for cooking and sweets at the store.
Reducing plastic waste and reducing waste
Aiming to reduce plastic waste, we encourage customers to bring their own bottles at the store, and offer a discount service to those who bring their own. In addition, the discount service is also applied to the use of large-capacity (1 liter) bottles with advance reservations, in an effort to reduce garbage and disposal.
Also, on June 15-16, 2019, Sunshine Juice was produced at the "G20 Innovation Exhibition", an event that was held alongside the "G20 Ministerial Meeting on Energy Transitions and the Global Environment for Sustainable Growth" held in Karuizawa. Nut packaging was introduced. Sunshine Juice will review packaging containing conventional plastic materials and adopt kraft barrier paper packaging as part of measures against marine plastic waste.
Incorporating the power of nature into the body with cold-pressed juice and returning it to the earth. One of Sunshine Juice's important activities is to create a sustainable system that can contribute to both humans and the earth, and to create an earth-friendly cycle.
