Let's Get Closer to the Plants // 2026

This year again, we did a new juice pulp dyed collection using the pulp left over from making Sunshine Juice.

The collection includes a tank top, a drawstring "KINCHAKU" pouch, and a tote bag, each dyed with the leftover pulp from beetroot, celery, and carrot juice. All are available in one size. The tank top has a relaxed fit that works well oversized for women and comfortably loose for men.

Our journey with this “juice pulp dye” began back in 2015.

That was when I first met Mr.  Keisuke Hishikawa, someone I think of not only as my teacher of plants, but as one of my greatest teachers in life.

Hishikawa san developed a unique dyeing technique that uses plants while achieving remarkable color fastness. Meeting him inspired us to ask a simple question: Could the pulp left behind after juicing become something beautiful instead of becoming waste? That question became the beginning of this project.

I’ve learned countless things from him over the years, but one idea has stayed with me more than anything else.

He explained that this method isn’t  about dyeing fabric. It’s about transferring the qualities—the energy—of plants into natural fibers.

There are so many beautiful forms of textile dyeing in the world.

Botanical dyeing, mud dyeing, tie-dye… each carries its own unique character, subtle variations, and the unmistakable beauty of handmade work. I deeply respect and love them all.

What makes Sunshine Juice’s pulp dye unique is that it transforms the vivid colors of the very plants we juice every day—the byproducts of our work—into something you can wear.

I like to imagine that by wearing these colors, we install  the energy of plants into our everyday lives. Through our skin, through our eyes, through color itself, we become just a little more connected to the plant world.

One day, HIshikawa san said something I’ll never forget.

“Your juice is a way of taking plants internally. This dye is a way of wearing plants externally.”

Those words have stayed with me ever since.

By wearing the colors born from the pulp that naturally remains after juicing, I hope people can feel just a little closer to the plants that sustain us every day.
